Aerospace

The increasing emphasis upon safety in the aerospace and aircraft industry has resulted in an increasing demand for all PTFE products. The importances of fire resistant materials where human life and intricate machinery must function, as a reliable unit is evident when tragic events occur. PTFE products are fire resistant. They are non-flammable in a normal atmosphere. In a highly oxygenated atmosphere, glass fiber reinforced PTFE burns at a rate of less than 3/10” or 7.62 MM per second.

AFC products differ from comparable competitive products only in regard to quality control. They are fabricated to exacting standards. All AFC products are involved to some degree in the aerospace and aircraft industry, primarily for reasons of health and safety. These products possess a unique combination of the great many desirable properties, which follow:

  • Temperature Resistivity (-400°F to +600°F or -240°C to 316°C)
  • Smooth non-stick surface
  • Chemical resistivity
  • Mechanical strength
  • Durability
  • Controlled Dk (microwave)
  • Low dissipation factor (microwave)
  • High cold-flow (unsintered products)
  • Semi-conductivity

Aerospace applications:

  • Release fabric for composite pre-preg manufacture
  • Release fabric for vacuum bagging operations
  • Sacrificial tape used in flame spray masking operations.
  • Gaskets for insulation and protection
  • Radomes & Parabolic reflectors
