HIGH PERFORMANCE COATED FABRICS FOR INTERNAL FLOATING ROOF SEALS

Application: Covering wipers on Internal Floating Roof Seals with High Performance Coated Fabrics in order to Prevent Chemical Attack.

Solution: AFC's series 20 and 31 High Performance Coated Fabrics.

Advanced Flexible Composites Inc. is a leading designer and manufacturer of High Performance Coated Fabrics.

These fabrics are used in a variety of applications which demand excellent resistance to chemical attack while maintaining their tough mechanical properties.

Series 20 Coated Fabrics: These woven Fiberglass Fabrics are coated with PTFE (Fluon®*) resin. PTFE is the most inert chemical known, and performs very well in hostile chemical environments. The 20 series fabrics range in thickness from .003" thru .023". The fabrics can be supplied bondable one side and in widths up to 80" for most styles.

Series 31 Coated Fabrics: These woven Fiberglass Fabrics are coated with Viton*. Viton while not as chemically inert as PTFE, is still suitable for many chemical applications. Viton coated fabrics exhibit the utmost flexibility for fabrication. The 31 series fabrics are available in widths up to 50" and thicknesses from .010" thru .030".

AFC also produces a wide range of Specialty Pressure Sensitive Tapes which are compatible with the coated fabrics. Typically they are constructed of:

  • Fluon* Coated Fiberglass
  • Fluon* Film
  • Kapton*
  • Fiberglass
  • Silicone Coated Fiberglass
  • Fluon* Resins are compatable with the chemicals listed on the schedule below.
